Seminars

"Too much to do - so little time to do it."  A common cry from school guidance departments these days.  With government funding cutbacks, increased workloads and the multitude of roles that guidance staff have to play, it’s no wonder that priorities have tended to negate the time and resources in the area of career preparation.

Since 1994 Careerwise has been playing a positive, active role in supporting the efforts of Guidance departments and teachers by developing fast-moving,  exciting and informative seminars entitled "To Be or What to Be?" for high school students.

 These Seminars Aim to:

Provide the most up to date information about changing career patterns in the global economy.

Help students understand their personal interests, motivations and values and how these can relate to careers that will be satisfying to them.

Help parents take an active role in the career planning process for their students.

Stress to students the vital importance of education.

The "To Be or What to Be?" seminars set out to show students that the world does have a future and that there are great opportunities to participate in that future.  However, careers in the future are going to be different from those in the past and the career-planning methods of a generation ago are obsolete and will not suffice for this generation.

During the second part of this fast-paced seminar, students (and parents) are guided through our workbooks which will lead them to an understanding of their personalities through the use of the Holland Coding.  Participants also have the opportunity to evaluate their career-related motivations thereby giving them a good foundation for their career exploration voyage.  This can also be directly correlated with a student’s Holland Code.

  • Length of Seminar: 2 – 2 ˝ hours
  • Maximum attendance: 500 – dependent on available facilities.

Each seminar is custom designed to the needs of the school or youth group.

  • Who should attend?  Students (and parents) who need help in finding a way through the complex maze of career information.
